Poesía

Hey, just wanted to share the poem that I had to write for my hispanic poetry class since it is my first spanish poem. It was an imitation of another spanish poem and as far as rhyme and meter go, it reflects the other pretty well. Hmm, maybe I'll even put a translation.

Ajedrez

En un juego de mente
sin nada inteligente
absurdos y despacios
deslizo de serpiente
ambos, los ojos vacios
las manos en la frente

Minutos van pasando
el juez ya suspirando
calma como la nieve...
el caballo bufando.
por miedo, no se mueve
mas queda contemplando.

Escena aburrida
atención ya vencida
el juego no inspira
sino saca la vida
en esto no hay mentira
la audiencia, deprimida.

Al gran señor, invoques.
el juego, ¡no lo toques,
que dejes el tablero
las reinas y los roques!
en juego verdadero
es mejor que te enfoques.

¡Oh juego miserable
meta inalcanzable!
que tortura la mente
si hay bueno, que hable
pasa tan lentamente...
juego insoportable.

Chess

In a game of the mind
without any intelligence
they're absurd and slow
like the slither of a snake
both with empty eyes
and hands on their foreheads

The minutes go by
the judge gives a sigh
still like fresh snow..
the knight's horse huffs
out of fear it stays still
and sits there, contemplating

it's a boring scene
it's hard to pay attention
this game doesn't inspire
but takes the life out of you
there's no joke
the audience becomes depressed.

Pray to the Lord
Don't touch that game
leave the board
the queens and the rooks!
In a real game
that's where you should be.

Oh you miserable game
with an unreachable goal!
You torture the mind
if there is good in it, let me know
it goes by so slowly..
it's an unbearable game.

Es el poema mas impresionante que he leido en mad de seis meses. Por lo menos los escrito en la lengua de los Dioses.
